Bola del Mundo. The broadcast-tower summit (2,258 m) above the pass — a stiff ski-piste climb rewarded with the whole Meseta at your feet on clear days.
Winter at the Puerto. Madrid's home ski hill — modest pistes, big atmosphere on snow weekends, and snowshoe rentals for the forest tracks when the lifts queue.
Afternoon
Camino Schmidt from the pass — 11 km · 3.5 h. Puerto de Navacerrada → the yellow-dot Schmidt traverse through the pines → Fuenfría valley miradores → descend to Cercedilla station and ride the C-9/C-8 rails home. The classic point-to-point, gravity assisted.
The reservoir circuit. The Embalse de Navacerrada's shoreline path — an easy hour with the whole Guadarrama wall reflected in the water.
Evening
Roast lunch, earned. The village's asadores are the sierra's Sunday institution — judiones, cordero, and a fireplace. Book, or eat at the bar.
Sleeping here? The village core around the Plaza de los Ángeles has the classic mountain hotels and the best kitchens. Toward the reservoir adds water views and evening calm. Sleeping at the pass itself is possible but spartan — the village-plus-morning-drive pattern serves most visitors better.
