Special Free Days — 18 May & 12 October
Every 18 May (International Museum Day), most of Madrid's major state museums offer free entry all day. This includes the Prado, Reina Sofía, Thyssen, Arqueológico Nacional, and many more. Check individual museum websites in early May each year to confirm.
On 12 October (Día de la Hispanidad) — Spain's national day — many museums also open for free, particularly those with collections relating to Spanish history and the Americas.
