Air con would not cool the room. The lowest temperature during my stay was 25.7 degrees with a portable fan they offered me. They offered me three other rooms but the temperature was same in each. I paid in advance for 10 nights ($4,000 AUD) and left after the first night to another hotel (where the air con was effective) so I could be comfortable and enjoy my time in Madrid. Very nice hotel with a great brunch. The space is beautiful, and the French food (crêpes, pain perdu, etc.) was good, not exceptional but still pretty good.
