Hoteles for Champions League Matches — Madrid
Champions League matches at the Bernabéu attract visitors from across Europe. Demand is extreme — hotels within metro distance book out months ahead. Sort by distance to the stadium or by budget.
Champions League in Madrid — what you need to know
A Champions League night at the Bernabéu is one of the great European football experiences — 81,044 fans, the best sound system in club football, and a squad that has won the competition more times than any other club in history. But the city fills up fast. Here's what to know.
Book as early as possible
When UEFA announces the Champions League group stage fixtures (usually in August/September), hotels near the Bernabéu start selling out within days. For knockout rounds, demand is even more extreme — and prices are 2–3× normal rates. The most important advice: book the moment you have a ticket, not after. Central hotels also fill up quickly even if you're not staying near the stadium.
Where to stay for a Champions League match
Near the stadium (Chamartín): Best for a stadium-focused trip. Walk to the ground, easy exit after the match. The area has less character than central Madrid but is very practical.
In central Madrid (Sol/Embajadores): Metro Line 10 to Santiago Bernabéu takes 12 minutes. Staying central means you can explore the city during the day and get to the match easily. Better restaurants, better atmosphere, lower prices if you book early.
Getting to the match
Metro Line 10 direct to Santiago Bernabéu station. Trains run frequently on match nights and EMT puts on extra buses. Allow extra time — the area around the stadium gets very crowded in the hour before kick-off. After the match, the metro queues are long — either wait 30 minutes in a bar or walk to a different station to avoid the worst of it.
All hotels below are sorted by distance to the Bernabéu — but don't overlook central Madrid options which remain convenient via metro.
Hoteles for Champions League in Madrid: Everything You Need to Know
Both Real Madrid (Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, 81,000 capacity) and Atlético de Madrid (Cívitas Metropolitano, 68,000 capacity) host Champions League matches in Madrid. The two stadiums are on opposite sides of the city, and getting your hotel right relative to where you're watching makes the difference between a smooth matchday and a frustrating one.

Location
Paseo de la Castellana, north-central Madrid. Metro: Santiago Bernabéu (L10).
Best hotels for access
Stay anywhere on L10 (Metro Line 10) — from Tribunal south to Pinar de Chamartín north. Cuatro Caminos (L2/6/10 interchange) has budget hotels and excellent access. 15-minute metro from Sol to Bernabéu (L1→L10 at Alonso Martínez).
Match day timing
Arrive 90 min early — stadium fills fast and security queues are long for UCL. Metro back post-match gets very crowded (10+ min wait on platform). Walk 2-3 extra stops (towards Nuevos Ministerios south or Concha Espina north) to get a seat on the Metro.
Metropolitano: Atlético de Madrid Champions League Matches
Location
Avenida de Luis Aragones, eastern Madrid, in the San Blas-Canillejas district. Metro: Estadio Metropolitano (L9), 20+ stops from Sol.
Best hotel strategy
Stay in the city centre and take the Metro on match day. The stadium area has few hotels and the neighbourhood is mainly residential/industrial. Journey from Sol: ~35-40 min.
Match day timing
Same rules: arrive 90 min early. Post-match Metro queues are long — walk towards Barrio de la Concepción (2 stops west) for less-crowded boarding.
