Hoteles with Parking in Madrid: The Honest Guide

Driving to central Madrid is generally not recommended — the city has an excellent Metro system, a Low Emission Zone (ZBE) that restricts certain vehicles, and hotel parking prices that can add €25-35/day to your accommodation cost. But if you're driving — whether arriving by car from elsewhere in Spain or bringing a rental — here's what to know.

Low Emission Zone (ZBE) — Check Before You Drive

Madrid's Zero Emissions Zone (ZBE) covers the entire M30 ring road area — essentially all of central Madrid. Vehicles without an environmental label (0, ECO, C, or B) may be fined €100 if they enter the ZBE. Petrol cars registered before 2006 and diesel cars registered before 2014 typically don't qualify for a label. Check your vehicle at madrid.es/ZBE before driving into the city.

Zero/ECO label

Electric, plug-in hybrid, gas vehicles. Free access and parking anywhere in the ZBE.

C label (petrol)

Petrol cars 2006+. Access allowed with some time restrictions. Hotel car parks available.

B label (diesel)

Diesel 2014+. Same as C. Can access the ZBE but with restrictions. Check specific zones.

Hotel Parking vs Street/Public Parking

Hotel parking: Most central Madrid hotels with parking charge €20-35/day for underground spaces. Convenient but expensive. Some airport-area hotels include parking free (useful for park-and-Metro strategies).

Public parking: SABA and EMPARK car parks throughout the city are significantly cheaper: €12-18/day for public garages vs €25-35 at hotel. Plaza de Oriente underground carpark (near Royal Palace) is one of the best options if visiting the western old city.

Park-and-Metro strategy: Drive to a Metro end-of-line station (Arganda del Rey, Valdemoro, Alcobendas — all have free or very cheap parking) and take the Metro in. This saves €20-25/day on parking and completely avoids the ZBE restriction issue.

Best Areas for Hoteles with Parking in Madrid

Most central Madrid hotels charge for parking regardless of star rating. Better value: hotels in Chamartín (north, near RENFE station), the AZCA business district, and the hotel clusters near Barajas Airport often include parking or charge less (€10-20/day) than equivalent city-centre hotels.
